These kids have some wild ideas about who should be president in 2020
1 aug 13:44 - If you want instant comedy gold, all you have to do is ask a child a serious question about politics. "Whomever we elect will have a great impact on future generations — and even though kids can't vote yet, they should be heard," says Jimmy Kimmel in the clip above. "So we went down to the farmers' market, we asked children to tell us who they think should be the next president." As you can imagine, the answers — which range from Justin Bieber to Oprah (sorry kids, not happening) and a camp counsellor named Zara — aren't exactly conventional. But then again, neither is the current president. Read more...More about President, Jimmy Kimmel Live, Jimmy Kimmel, Us Politics, and 2020 Presidential Election

Julia Louis-Dreyfus reacts to Marianne Williamson's 'Seinfeld' debate reference
1 aug 12:44 - Amidst the malarkey, worlds collided at the Democratic debate on Wednesday. Presidential candidate Marianne Williamson, who just yesterday told a kid reporter her cat died, peppered a debate response with a Seinfeld reference. "I don't think the Democratic party should be surprised that so many Americans believe yada, yada, yada," she said. Veep actor Julia Louis-Dreyfus, known for wielding this catchphrase as Elaine Benes in the legendary '90s sitcom, thought the whole moment "bizarre," watching it with Jimmy Kimmel. She does, after all, play Vice President Selina Meyer in the HBO series too.  Read more...More about Democratic Debate, Veep, Julia Louis Dreyfus, Seinfeld, and Marianne Williamson

Stephen Colbert spends 7 minutes gleefully roasting the Democratic candidates
1 aug 11:15 - The downside of having so many Democratic candidates is that it's sort of hard to keep up with who's who. The upside? Even more people to ruthlessly make fun of. On Wednesday, following CNN's second Democratic debate, Stephen Colbert did exactly that — cracking jokes about everything from Julían Castro's wordy campaign slogan to Joe Biden's inability to finish his healthcare speech. At least all these candidates are giving him plenty of material to work with — it's a whole bunch of malarkey.  Read more... Seth Meyers roasts the malarkey out of Joe Biden's old-guy debate schtick
1 aug 10:59 - If, like Seth Meyers, you love the word malarkey, Joe Biden's debate performance on Wednesday night is for you. Going live to air after Debate Night 2.2: The Malarkening had wrapped up, it seemed Meyers had very much enjoyed the former vice president's toothy cantankerousness.  After pointing out that the debate moderators kept cutting everyone off and Biden just stopped mid-sentence every time, Meyers compared it to "when your grandpa tries to speak up at the dinner table and no one hears him. "'I have a story about restaura- oh, never mind.'" He also made fun of Biden's comment that the detractors of his healthcare plan was "malarkey" "There it is!" Meyers crowed, adding a *chef kiss*. "'A bunch of malarkey' is Joe Biden’s 'more cowbell'." Read more...More about Joe Biden, Democratic Debate, Seth Meyers, Late Night With Seth Meyers, and Democrats

The Rock sounded more presidential last night than half the actual candidates
1 aug 10:42 - One of the lines that was repeated across both nights of CNN's Democratic presidential debates was that any one of the 20 people who took the stage on Tuesday and Wednesday would be a better president than Donald Trump. And to that I say: absolutely true.  But we could also do worse than some of the guests who visited the late night shows those very same nightsJohn Legend. Any of the Queer Eye guys. And not least, perpetually-rumoured potential 2020 candidate Dwayne The Rock Johnson (no quotes, I said what I said). Dwayne The Rock Johnson went on The Tonight Show on Wednesday night to tell Jimmy Fallon about his new movie Hobbs & Shaw, his very cute daughter, why his massive cheat meals are like church... and also to speak eloquently and with genuine empathy and understanding about why he supports the people protesting the building of a giant telescope at a sacred site on Hawai'i's Mauna Kea peak. Jane the Virgin' gives fans a perfectly sweet goodbye
1 aug 04:00 - As our beloved and recently unveiled narrator tells us at the top of Jane the Virgin's final episode, everything ends. Stories end, friendships end, relationships end, and we must come to terms with it. Yet so often in real life – outside of telenovelas and the CW shows that honor them – things don't end. Chapters of our own lives draw to a close, but then things go on. You learn to live without the thing that ended, or with the new change. The endings we experience in letting go of television are unique because rarely in life do we have to let go of so many beloved people and places at once, never to hear from them again. Robert De Niro and Al Pacino play the mob game in Martin Scorsese's 'The Irishman
31 jul 14:49 - Can you believe The Irishman marks the first time Martin Scorsese has ever directed Al Pacino?  The subject matter is right up both men's alley. Scorsese's long-in-the-making story of Frank Sheeran, the labor leader and alleged mafia hitman who claims to have killed Jimmy Hoffa.  The description from Netflix makes it sound as though the story unfolds in a series of flashbacks, with an aging Sheeran (De Niro) looking back on his life and his work in the mean streets. The movie will hit Netflix sometime in the fall, following a Sept. 27 premiere at the New York Film Festival. Read more... Daniel Radcliffe plays ridiculously filthy innuendo game, can't stop giggling
31 jul 13:55 - If you ever say something accidentally sexual around Daniel Radcliffe, you had better not do it when he has a mouthful of liquid. Radcliffe is guaranteed to spray that stuff all over you. In the video above, the actor takes part in a game of "Innuendo Bingo" on BBC Radio 1. Basically the idea is to drink water, hold it in your mouth, and then sit through recordings of people making accidental innuendos — think phrases like "penetrate your bolthole" and "100-metre gash" — while trying not to laugh. As you can probably guess, Radcliffe does not succeed. Read more... More about Uk, Funny, Daniel Radcliffe, Bbc Radio 1, and Entertainment

Stephen Colbert uses the perfect 'Scooby-Doo' parody to explain the Democratic debates
31 jul 13:15 - Struggling to keep up with the Democratic debates, and the many, many different candidates running? You're not alone. It turns out Scooby-Doo and the gang are also having some difficulties. In the parody sketch above for The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Scooby & Co. attempt to work out which Democratic candidate is hiding beneath a familiar-looking ghost mask. The problem? They simply can't tell who it is — and Shaggy has a theory about why. "There's like too many middle-aged generic white guys, man!" he groans. Read more... John Legend takes on James Corden in a glorious a capella riff-off
31 jul 11:33 - When it comes to summer tunes, what do you prefer — a classic ballad or an upbeat bop? Well, here to settle the argument once and for all are John Legend and James Corden. In a segment on The Late Late Show, the two go head-to-head in an a capella riff-off, with Legend fighting for ballads and Corden defending the bops. There's an entertaining version of Billie Eilish's "Bad Guy," a slowed down "All of Me," and the whole thing finishes with a rousing duet of Lewis Capaldi's "Someone You Loved." Needless to say, the harmonies are on point. Read more... More about John Legend, James Corden, The Late Late Show With James Corden, Entertainment, and Music

What 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood' gets right about Charles Manson
31 jul 11:00 - The following article contains spoilers for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.  Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is a purposefully fantastical rewriting of the infamous Manson Family murders. So it's ironic that this alternate history is also one of the more honest depictions of America's favorite true-crime legend, revealing the perception of Charles Manson as evil incarnate to be more sensationalized myth than fact. When people learned the premise of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood revolved around the Manson murders, it raised some eyebrows. Tarantino himself expressed the care he took to avoid yet another distasteful scavenging of Sharon Tate's tragic death to sell movie tickets — even managing to convince Tate's sister that his approach would be unlike any other.  Read more...More about Entertainment, Quentin Tarantino, Charles Manson, Serial Killer, and Once Upon A Time In Hollywood

Hulu's 'Four Weddings and a Funeral' will only slightly scratch your rom-com itch
31 jul 11:00 - If you know one thing about Mindy Kaling, the co-creator of Hulu's Four Weddings and a Funeral reboot along with The Mindy Project co-conspirators Matt Warburton and Tracey Wigfield, you know that she loves romantic comedies. It takes minimal exposure to Kaling's work with Hulu to understand that she'd happily live in this world if she could, and that almost every piece of media she offers us is supposed to provide us the same escape. Four Weddings and a Funeral, like the team's last project, is by no means a brilliant addition to its genre. It features a promising cast and established writing team, all unfairly burdened with delivering a revelatory rom-com they were never going to make. What they did make is perfectly fun and fine, a breezy way to pass the evenings as summer winds wearily toward winter. Queer Eye' stars share the disgusting incident that made Antoni literally pee himself laughing
31 jul 09:29 - You're used to the cast of Queer Eye making you cry, but there are no emotional Karamo monologues here — just a squirming Antoni Porowski, laughing so much he can barely tell a story. During their appearance on The Tonight Show on Tuesday, Jimmy Fallon had the queer quintet play "Know Your Fab Five": Each took turns wearing a set of noise-cancelling headphones while the other four answered a question about them, to see if they'd all agree on Tan's dumbest moment or JVN's crankiness "tell". But the only one they all agreed on was the time Antoni laughed the hardest during the fourth season — and it was all Jonathan's fault.  Read more...More about Jimmy Fallon, Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Queer Eye, Antoni Porowski, and Jonathan Van Ness

Robert Pattinson and Willem Dafoe go mad together in 'The Lighthouse' trailer
30 jul 15:55 - I'm not exactly sure why Robert Pattinson and Willem Dafoe seem to be losing their minds in black and white and a 4:3 aspect ratio, but I sure do look forward to finding out. This trailer for The Lighthouse gives us a peek at the next effort from Robert Eggers, writer and director of The Witch. It's light on story, but heavy on booze-addled delirium. As far as I can tell, Pattinson and Dafoe are a duo of lighthouse keepers who drink, argue, hug, and play with sea creatures. There's also a shot of what looks like a makeshift grave at one point. Spooky. You should expect nothing less from Eggers, after The Witch. It's not clear when The Lighthouse is coming, but the trailer promises it'll be soon. Melissa McCarthy's story of her worst date ever starts awkwardly, escalates rapidly
30 jul 11:12 - Everyone has an awkward date story — but we doubt there are many people out there with stories that can top Melissa McCarthy's. During an episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live, she described a date where her companion spent the entire meal moaning about how expensive everything was, and how he could make it cheaper at home. But that wasn't even the worst bit. As they walked back to McCarthy's apartment, the guy told her he had "this thing" in his bag that he'd got "from a guy at work." He said it was a ring. "I'll just say it's not a ring for your finger or your toes," explained McCarthy. "This was my one and only offering of that after a date going terribly. I'm standing on Fairfax, which is a very busy street, and he's got it from his friend at work — it's not even new!" The Boys' is the perfect superhero story for our screwed-up world
30 jul 11:00 - I never read The Boys, and I honestly don't care to after watching Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg's adaptation of the comic. It's not that I wasn't a fan; quite the opposite, in fact. But The Boys, the one that's now streaming on Amazon, is such a modern and aggressively human take on superhero stories that I'm worried about getting to know these characters in some other medium and spoiling everything. The eight-hour first season — I pray there are more, because wow what an ending — introduces a world that actually gives a shit when superheroes screw up. The heroes themselves are untouchable corporate entities, but The Boys fixates on the collateral damage that tends to trail superhuman hijinks. Jeff Goldblum does intense rap battle with James Corden and things get brutal, fast
30 jul 10:50 - As we all know, Jeff Goldblum is one of the coolest customers in town. But when he gets behind the mic he turns into a demon. In the clip above from The Late Late Show, the Jurassic Park legend goes head-to-head with James Corden in a fiery rap battle. Here's a very brief sample of the kind of burns he serves up: "Crosswalk the musical makes you a star/Because people tune in to hope you're hit by a car." Ouch. Corden is going to need a whole bucket of ice after this. Read more... More about Uk, Jeff Goldblum, James Corden, The Late Late Show With James Corden, and Entertainment

Late night hosts are hammering Trump's racism after his weekend of attacks
30 jul 10:31 - "Another weekend, another racist outburst from our racist president." Late night hosts had plenty to work with on Monday night, with Donald Trump's public appearances over the last weekend of July providing a wealth of wildly inappropriate, offensive, and delusional tweets and soundbites. There was the threat to impose tariffs on French wine in retaliation for the European nation's new taxes on big tech companies — and the stated preference, from the famous teetotaler, for American wines over French because of how they look.  There was the thing where he blamed Obama for the White House aircon being too cold.  Read more...More about Racism, Late Night, Stephen Colbert, Trump, and Late Night With Seth Meyers

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood': How do you solve a puzzle like Cliff?
30 jul 00:45 - Spoilers follow for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.  Though Leonardo DiCaprio's Rick Dalton is the big TV star and Margot Robbie's Sharon Tate the rising starlet, it is Brad Pitt's Cliff Booth who is undoubtedly the hero of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.  Cliff is the film's resident badass, a stuntman who gets up to even cooler stuff off-camera than on. He spends his downtime on set sparring with Bruce Lee, and his days off picking up nubile young (too young, as it turns out) hippies. It is Cliff who gets the white-hot shirtless scene, Cliff who emerges victorious in not one but two face-offs against the Manson Family goons, Cliff who thus inadvertently saves Sharon and her friends from their grisly fates. Nintendo will replace a 'Fire Emblem' voice actor after abuse allegations surface
29 jul 22:44 - Nintendo will remove voice actor Chris Niosi's work from a pair of Fire Emblem games in the wake of abuse allegations against him that surfaced in recent weeks. Niosi, who voices Byleth in Fire Emblem Heroes and Fire Emblem: Three Houses (for now), allegedly subjected multiple former romantic partners and colleagues to abusive behavior. The allegations first came to light in a July 13 blog post penned by a former partner who identifies herself only as Amy. Nintendo confirmed plans to replace Niosi with another actor — specifically, One Punch Man's Zach Aguilar — in a statement provided to Mashable. "After assessing the situation, we decided to re-record the character’s voiceovers in Fire Emblem: Three Houses and Fire Emblem Heroes with another actor. The new voiceovers will be included in a future patch," the statement reads. Read more...More about Nintendo, Abuse, Fire Emblem, Entertainment, and Gaming

Lil Nas X's 'Old Town Road' spends record-breaking 17th week at No. 1
29 jul 22:10 - On Monday, Lil Nas X's "Old Town Road" featuring Billy Ray Cyrus made history as the longest-running No. 1 track to ever hit the Billboard Hot 100. The prestigious record required a daunting 17 weeks as the most popular song across radio and online streaming within the United States. The accolade was previously shared by Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men's "One Sweet Day" and Luis Fonsi's "Despacito" — both of which ended their No. 1 reigns at a 16-week tie. "Did I know it would become the longest-running No. 1 song of all time?" Lil Nas reflected of his track's surprise success on Twitter.  "No! But I am so thankful that this blessing has been placed upon me. This song has changed my life, and the way I see the world around me in less than a year." Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge proves Disneyland is made for childless millennials
28 jul 21:00 - Despite their reputation as the happiest places on earth, Disney theme parks have recently become a lightning rod for profoundly unhappy people airing their opinions on what millennials can and cannot do.  First came the viral Facebook post from an unhinged mom who railed against childless millennials taking up space at Disney World, in which she accused complete strangers of being pretzel-buying sluts (her words, no joke) who should cede their attendance at the park to parents with children. Then there was the New York Post article that associated Disney park trips with millennial immaturity and said childless park attendees have “an unhealthy relationship” with the House of Mouse.  Read more...More about Disney World, Disneyland, Childless Millennials, Entertainment, and Movies Tv Shows

James Corden makes an audience member fetch cue cards from under a sleeping Terry Crews
26 jul 13:14 - Would you risk waking a slumbering Terry Crews for the sweet prize of viral fame? This the situation one member of The Late Late Show with James Corden found themselves in on Thursday. The clip above starts with Corden realising he's "forgotten" his cards in the green room. Orange is the New Black' goes out through triumphant tears
26 jul 13:00 - The following review is spoiler-free.  Orange is the New Black was never going to get a happy ending. At some point or another, the series had to accept that not everyone could be saved from its notoriously punishing setting. No matter how many seasons they were given, certain characters would always have to face their lifelong sentences and unjust convictions. Some wrongs from prior seasons could never be righted. Some perpetrators would go unpunished. Some inner demons would continue to haunt. To let up on those realities would undermine the series' Emmy-winning credibility and risk turning a great story into flimsy fan service. Simply put, if OITNB wanted to stick the landing on its six-year run, that meant leaving people behind.  Read more...More about Netflix, Orange Is The New Black, Entertainment, Streaming Services, and Movies Tv Shows

Jeff Goldblum's interview with Stephen Colbert is an absolutely wild ride
26 jul 12:10 - With most interviewees, it's important to have a thorough list of prepared questions you want to ask them. Not so with Jeff Goldblum. You can pretty much just bring him out and sit back while he jumps from one wonderfully obscure topic to the next. "I just want to know," says Stephen Colbert, four-and-a-half minutes into the clip above, "have we recorded any of this so far?" It's a fair question. They do eventually get to Goldblum's new movie, The Mountain, but it's only after a lot of random talk about Advil and fishing. "I live more in 10 minutes than most people do in an entire lifetime," Goldblum jokes at one point. Netflix's 'Blown Away' is your latest reality obsession
26 jul 12:00 - Blown Away is great TV, and I don't say that about every glassblowing reality show out there. At first, Netflix's aptly named series appeared to subscribers, including myself, as little more than filler content. Few paid attention to its sudden appearance on the streaming service earlier this month, seemingly dismissing the niche project as a salute to unusual hobbies. Soon, however, the novelty of the intricate craft and the metaphoric warmth of the show's featured competitors welcomed in a sizable community of spectators — all of them hungry for that wholesome glassblowing goodness. Together we discovered that Blown Away is basically The Great British Bake Off, but with a 2,000-degree furnace, an indoor Canadian setting, and deadpan use of the term "glory hole." Bernie Sanders reacts to bizarre fan merchandise featuring his face
26 jul 11:08 - There are a lot of creative Bernie Sanders fans out there. Some of them are so dedicated to the Democratic candidate's cause that they've even made some wonderfully odd merchandise featuring his face. In the Jimmy Kimmel Live clip above, the host presents Sanders with some of the more obscure items he's inspired — from a "St. Bernie" candle to a cap honouring the podium bird, and t-shirt that shows multiple Bernie Sanders' reaching for the moon. Sanders' reaction? A little chuckle. "You're getting cheated out of a lot of money there," jokes Kimmel, after the show-and-tell is over. Moulin Rouge!' on Broadway is one hell of a fun spectacle
26 jul 03:59 - The spectacle of Moulin Rouge! begins not with the opening number, but from the moment you walk into the glamorous, immersive theater decked out with a giant windmill on one side and a larger-than-life elephant on the other. Then, as you actually focus on what is on the stage, you're greeted with seductive dancers strutting around in their burlesque best, making eyes at patrons as they find their seats and begin to even attempt to take in all the wonder around them.  Welcome to the Moulin Rouge. This bombastic, enchanting and altogether magical Broadway musical, based on the Oscar-nominated 2001 film of the same name by Baz Lurhmann, is a love letter to love, most especially the all-consuming, desperate kind of love that songwriters have been trying to put into words over and over again for centuries.  Read more...More about Broadway, Musicals, Moulin Rouge, Entertainment, and Music

With Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, Woody Harrelson, and Abigail Breslin reprising their roles as savvy survivors, the Double Tap trailer also showcases a whole new cast of characters to mix things up. Rosario Dawson is driving a monster truck through hordes of zombies! Fire Emblem: Three Houses' has everything 'Fire Emblem' fans want
25 jul 16:00 - Fire Emblem: Three Houses has everything a Fire Emblem fan could want in a new game: a protagonist with an unnatural hair color, characters you cherish with all your heart, mysterious villains, plenty of twists, and battle after battle to test both your mind and your patience. Three Houses is dressed head to toe in all the classic fantasy RPG tropes that Fire Emblem has wrapped itself in since the series began in 1990. Is it a little tiresome? At times. But it's a formula they've done over and over again because it works. As the first new Fire Emblem game on a home console since 2007's Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn, Three Houses feels like a larger and more involved experience than some of its more recent entries, while still maintaining a cohesive feel. Naomi Watts and Jimmy Fallon play the world's most frustrating whispering game
25 jul 12:55 - We've all played Charades at one time or another. We all know how enraging it can be. Well, Jimmy Fallon's "Whisper Challenge" is worse. In the segment above, the Tonight Show host is joined by Naomi Watts, star of the upcoming Game of Thrones prequel, for the game, which essentially involves donning headphones and attempting to guess what phrase the other person is whispering purely by watching their lips move. In the end, they get a solid one out of three. And it's a big relief when they do. Read more... More about The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Game, Jimmy Fallon, Naomi Watts, and Entertainment

Here's the 1 Robert Mueller testimony moment all the late night hosts picked up on
25 jul 12:15 - Wednesday was a long day. It was especially long for former special counsel Robert Mueller, who testified before two Congressional committees for a solid six hours. It was also a long day for Donald Trump, who — despite saying he "wasn't going to be watching" the testimony — basically spent all of Wednesday live-tweeting it. Obviously six hours makes for a lot of footage to wade through, with plenty of moments to pick up — Twitter chose this one. Despite this, the majority of the late night show segments on Mueller's testimony had one thing in common: The hosts all picked up on the same exchange, which took place between Mueller and Republican Ken Buck. Another Life' is a totally unhinged 'so bad it's good' sci-fi series from Netflix
25 jul 11:00 - What the hell did I just watch? In the late hours of the evening after I binged all 10 episodes of Netflix's Another Life in a single day, I tried to imagine the pitch that summoned such a thing into being. I think it probably went: "What if Star Trek, but with Selma Blair lighting up a B-plot take on The Arrival and a cast of hot 20-somethings where everyone fucks?" Even that only kind of gets to the heart of this magically ridiculous season of streaming television. The premise is simple: An alien craft that we've decided to call "the Artifact" has parked itself on Earth, sprouting into a skyscraper-sized crystal tower. And there it sits, doing precisely nothing. Read more...More about Netflix, Another Life, Entertainment, and Movies Tv Shows

The latest 'Harlots' twist rivals anything seen on 'Game of Thrones
24 jul 23:28 - This article contains spoilers for Season 3, Episode 3 of Hulu's Harlots.  Looking back, it shouldn't have been that surprising. All of the meta-clues were there.  Jessica Brown Findlay, best known for playing Lady Sybil on Downton Abbey, was an inspired casting choice for the dashing, daring lead role on Harlots, but Sybil's most memorable Downton story arc was her surprising and untimely death in Season 3. The second clue was Alfie Allen's appearance as an antagonist in this season of Harlots, fresh off his final episodes as Theon Greyjoy in notorious character-culler Game of Thrones.  What happens when you add a dash of Thrones to the already deadly underworld of Georgian London? A shocking early season twist that leaves Findlay's Charlotte Wells dead in the foyer in Golden Square, helplessly bleeding out after a horrifying semi-accident involving Allen's Isaac Pincher at the top of the stairs. At least Lady Sybil made it to Episode 5 of Downton Season 3. Charlotte only made it to Harlots Episode 3.  Read more...More about Hulu, Jessica Brown Findlay, Alfie Allen, Harlots, and Entertainment
